MTC: August 26 - September 4

            Monday, August 26 we reported to the Provo MTC. 

New Hampshire Manchester Mission

There were 22 couples of Senior missionaries in our group.  Most of them stayed at the MTC (really the Provo Marriott).  We chose to drive as we were usually finished with classwork by about 4:30pm.  (Except for Tuesday)  The week was spent learning “Preach My Gospel”.   The classwork wasn’t too bad but I didn’t enjoy the role playing too much and it got more intense as the week went by. 

There was a devotional on Tuesday evening.  Elder Neil Anderson of the Twelve was the speaker.  Was a nice meeting but it started late as Elder Anderson couldn’t get to Provo because of a bad storm.  When he finished speaking, they announced that there was lightning and thunder so we wouldn’t be allowed to leave the Marriott Center so we just sat there and sang songs for a while.  That made it late getting to the cabin (in the rain).  By the end of the week, 8:00am came pretty early to be to class. 
  

Teacher: Elder Chin, Halls, Ogdens, Winters, Teacher: Sis. Fuller

 For study purposes, the seniors were divided into “districts”. They asked me to be the district leader so that meant I had to be there on time.  Also Rhonda played the organ so we had to be there even earlier.  My group consisted of the Halls who were going to the Philippines and the Winters who were going to the office in Dallas Texas plus us.  By the end of the day on Friday, we were ready to leave, glad to be staying in Midway where it was “Swiss Days” and more family came for the weekend.

             Monday morning, 8:00 am saw us back to the MTC for 3 more days of Visitor Center Training.  At this point, there were only 6 couples: Yates (Mexico City), Wankes (Palmyra), Smiths (Nauvoo), Lavenders (San Diego) and Leishmans (St. George) and us.  This training seemed much more enjoyable and the role playing wasn’t so intense.  Our teachers were the Morgan’s (formerly from Nephi and St. Geo. Visitor Center Director). 

They were pretty sensitive to our needs and we didn’t role play too much so it was much more enjoyable.  We became good friends with each of the couples this week.  The Yates rode to Salt Lake  with us on Monday for a visit to the North Visitors Center in Temple Square.  We were all going to Visitors Centers so all had the same needs and desires.
            Wednesday, we checked out of the MTC and all of us parted for our separate ways.  We choose not to leave for Vermont on Wednesday so we went back to the cabin to “pack”.
